Divya Kothakapa
Grant Type:
POST Program Grants
Year Awarded:
2023
Type of Childhood Cancer:
Leukemia
Project Description:

Mentor Name: Brian Fisher

In recent years, available treatments for pediatric acute myeloid leukemia have significantly improved overall survival. However, infectious complications remain a leading contributor to morbidity and mortality. This summer Divya will contribute to manual chart abstraction for a multi-institution cohort of pediatric AML patients established by investigators in the Pediatric Cancer Epidemiology Research Group at CHOP. She will help with the expansion of the data resource to include detailed information on infections incurred during frontline therapy which will support various projects exploring demographic, clinical and neighborhood-based risk factors for infection, potential mediators for increased acuity of infection, and modifiers of the effective supportive care interventions.
